About me

Introduction

I design apps that solve complex business problems with rich user interfaces.  I’ve an accomplished SharePoint architect (I speak at conferences!), an aspiring designer and a perpetual student.

I’m an active member of the OfficeDev PnP community on Yammer, and I try to give back to the community that helps me so much by regularly speaking at SharePoint conferences in the Chicagoland area.

Experience

I spent two years building SharePoint and BizTalk applications at DuPage Medical Group in Downers Grove, IL.  Now I’m a software architect at PSC Group, where I’ve worked since 2011.

Technologies, Apps, Languages, Frameworks, etc.

If you see it below, I’ve either written apps with it, rolled it out for a client, or I’m writing an app with it right now:

  • Office 365
    • SharePoint add-ins
      • Provider-hosted
      • SharePoint-hosted

  • Azure
    • Web jobs
    • Web applications
    • Services bus
    • Event hub
  • SharePoint on-premise
    • 2016, 2013, 2010, 2007, WSS 3
    • Add-ins
    • Farm solutions
  • Nintex
    • On-premise + Office 365
    • Workflow
    • Forms
  • HTML 5 + CSS
  • jQuery
  • Angular.js
  • ASP.NET
    • MVC
    • Web forms
  • BizTalk
    • Orchestrations
    • Custom maps

What I’m working on now

We’ll see how well I do at keeping this updated…

  • Building a mobile app for accessing SharePoint documents, built on Angular.js and using Google Material UI (using Proto.IO to prototype)
  • Preparing to speak at InspireX, the inaugural Nintex conference in Las Vegas
  • Evaluating Office Fabric UI and its place in the world of Angular apps and Office add-ins
  • Building a sweet “data dashboards and analytics” app on Azure and PowerBI

Everything Else

I received my undergraduate B.A. from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, where I majored in MIS and minored in computer science and Spanish.  I love Chicago sports (especially the Cubs), Legos, building computers and DIY house catastrophes projects.  I also am an avid lurker at (and occasional contributor to) the OSx86 project over at InsanelyMac.com.

The views and opinions in this blog belong solely to me and are in no way, shape or form representative of those of my employer.  PM me or leave me a comment and I’ll do my best to get back to you.  You can follow me on Twitter, too, although I can’t guarantee that my tweets won’t be occasionally sandwiched between Cubs rage.
